GD 201 - Journal Response 2
In the readings, I realized both the author's talk about the narrative and non-narrative design in video and genre games like card, puzzle and quiz games. The purpose of talking about narrative or storytelling in games is to let the player have control on what they can change and increase their engagement on the story. This reminds me of one game the Telltale game series The Walking Dead, where throughout the series, you take control of a character and can make decisions that can impact the storyline. Being able to play the game and also alter the story to your liking is what keeps the player engaged and shows why it's important in a game category.
